Home Wine and Beer

Hydrometers for Home Wine and Beer Making

These hydrometers are specifically designed for home wine and beer making and all are suitable for both wine and beer. They are packed in strong plastic tubes, which can be used as storage and protection for the life of the hydrometer. For easy distribution they are bagged in quantities of 10, and usually sold in multiples of 250 or 500 units.

S1011 Triple Scale Hydrometer
This hydrometer is 230mm long and has three scales:
• Specific Gravity 0.980–1.120 at 20°C,
• sugar scale 0–270 grams per litre,
• potential alcohol scale 5–17% for wines.
Coloured bands indicate where to start and finish wines and beers, and there is an indication for sweet/medium/dry finished wines. The hydrometer comes packed in a strong clear plastic tube along with an instruction leaflet.

S1207 Triple Scale Hydrometer
This hydrometer is 230mm long and has three scales:
• Specific Gravity 0.980–1.120 at 20°C,
• sugar scale 0–50 ounces per gallon,
• alcohol scale 0–16% for % alcohol calculation.
Coloured bands indicate where to start and finish wines and beers. The hydrometer comes packed in a strong clear plastic tube along with an instruction leaflet which includes a temperature correction table, and instructions on how to calculate actual % alcohol from the hydrometer readings.

S1310 Triple Scale Hydrometer
This hydrometer is 230mm long and has three scales:
• Specific Gravity 0.990–1.170 at 20°C,
• sugar scale 0–23 Balling (% sugar by weight),
• alcohol scale 0–23% for % alcohol calculation.
Instructions on how to calculate % alcohol are on an extension of scale. The hydrometer comes packed in a strong clear plastic tube along with an instruction leaflet which includes a temperature correction table, and instructions on how to calculate actual % alcohol from the hydrometer readings.

S1500 Easy Hydrometer
This hydrometer is 230mm long and has one duplicate scale:
• Specific Gravity 0.970–1.150 at 20°C (68°F),
The duplicate scale and clear large figuring means that the hydrometer is easily read from any angle. The wide measurement range makes this hydrometer suitable for use with kits designed to produce high strength products. The hydrometer comes packed in a strong clear plastic tube which doubles as a sample jar. It can also be supplied with a base that can be used to help hold the jar steady. It has a detailed instruction leaflet which includes a temperature correction table, tables for converting specific gravity readings to sugar and potential alcohol scales, and instructions on how to calculate actual % alcohol from the hydrometer readings.
